Firefighters Respond to Car Crash Next To Firehouse
By Firefighter Wendy Liu
August 3, 2010
On August 2nd, Sayville Fire Department members still at Headquarters after a Department meeting were jolted by the sound of a car crash at the house next door. To their surprise, the vehicle had hit the porch and completely demolished it before coming to its final resting place, which was the chain link fence on the corner of the firehouse property.
While firefighters and members of Community Ambulance tended to the driver, other firefighters stabilized the car, assessed the home's structural damage and closed off the scene. The driver was taken by Community Ambulance to the hospital.
