SAYVILLE'S FUTURE FIREFIGHTERS TEACH LIFE-SAVING FIRE SAFETY AT SAYVILLE'S SUMMERFEST

Members of the Sayville Fire Department Cadet/Explorer Post 311 spent a very hot day at Sayville's Summerfest teaching fire safety to children. The kids were brought into the safety house, which is a trailer set up with a bedroom, family room and kitchen. First, they discussed what to do in the event of a house fire, then the room began to fill with simulated smoke from a fog machine as the smoke detector sounded. The children did what they were taught&they learned to "stay low and go" and to "get out and stay out". Everyone went home with a packet filled with safety information for the family. The Explorer troop did a great job at getting important fire safety information out to the kids. Visit the Sayville Fire Department's website at sayvillefd.org for lots of safety information.
