The Sayville Fire Department will join volunteer fire departments across New York, who will be taking part in the RecruitNY campaign to increase the number of volunteer firefighters in New York. On Sunday, April 22nd, the Sayville Fire Department will be opening their firehouse to Sayville residents ages 18 and over (adults only please) who are thinking about becoming a volunteer member of the Sayville Fire Department. Those interested are invited to stop by Sayville Fire Department Headquarters (corner of Lincoln Avenue and Main Street) to attend one of their recruitment sessions being held at 10am, 11am, 12pm and 1pm. Future members will watch demonstrations of various firefighting and rescue techniques and will attend an information session about member qualifications, benefits and expectations.

Chief Thomas Pantano says, " I look forward to opening up our doors to residents who are considering joining the ranks of the volunteer fire service here in Sayville. I am sure that once they see the pride we take in our volunteer service and the supportive environment we provide to our firefighters and their families, we will add quite a few new members to our roster."
