Despite frigid winter temperatures, the members of the Sayville Fire Department spend many a Sunday morning training for their "next run". Recently the department assembled at the Station #2 Training Grounds for a round of Vehicle Extrication scenarios. Under the direction of Lieutenant Craig Fazio, the fire fighters rotated through a variety of evolutions involving the use of hydraulic powered tools and equipment used in the removal of "pinned" victims of motor vehicle accidents. Both firehouses in Sayville have apparatus readily equipped to handle all types of vehicle accidents and entrapments, and the members qualified to operate at these type of incidents. In the accompanying photos, fire fighters can seen using the "Jaws of Life" hydraulic spreaders, along with powered cutters and use of the inflating air bags.
